Anyone who works in a place that serves food to the public (restaurant, bar, food truck, or hospital) should hold a Allergen Awareness Training Certificate to show they understand food safety
If you come into contact with food during preparation, cooking, serving, or cleaning, this training will be valuable for your job.
Upon successful completion of this training program, you will understand:
• The definition of a food allergy• The symptoms of an allergic reaction• The major food allergies• The dangers of food allergens and how to prevent cross contact• The proper cleaning methods to prevent allergen contamination• How and when to communicate to guests and staff about allergens• The special considerations related to allergens from workstations and self-serve areas• How to handle special dietary requests• Dealing with emergencies, including allergic reactions• The importance of food labels• How to handle food deliveries in relation to allergens• Proper food preparation for guests with food allergies• Cleaning and personal hygiene considerations to prevent contaminating food with allergens
We've made it easy to receive your allergen training, meet state and company standards and begin work as quickly as possible. This course includes:
Self-paced lessons that take less than 15 minutes and have a voice-over option that reads the lesson aloud
Short quizzes to see how much you've retained after each lesson
A final test once all four lessons are completed. To get your Allergen Awareness Training Certificate, you must achieve a 70%.
Holding an Allergen Awareness Training Certificate shows employers that you have passed the minimum requirement of understanding food allergens. Employers can check your certificate status through our online system.
When applying for jobs, you may call yourself a "Responsible Training Allergen Awareness Certificate Recipient". You can refer to your "Responsible Training Allergen Awareness Certificate" on your resume.

The Responsible Training Allergen Awareness certification is valid for three years.
